Rack mounting the T8s

Hi, has anyone successfully rack-mounted the T8s?

I would like to incorporate it at the top of a small unit with radio mics and in ear systems underneath. I am hoping to save time setting up/packing down at gigs by having a table top style unit that just plugs in to one power source (rather than my current process of plugging in many separate units/XLRs etc.)

I see the base of the unit has a screw for a tripod but this wouldn’t be easily incorporated in to a standard rack mount. I’m wondering if I might have to get something custom-made/3D printed to enable this.

I can think of 2 options:

1.  Music stores carry rackmount enclosures on wheels with tops intended for mixers, that can slant.  Screw a flat woodpiece on to the top, then secure the T8S on to the wood.

2.  A 2nd idea is a 3-space rackmount "drawer," open-faced (not closed) in the front that slides out of the rack.  Secure your T8S on to it.  They are built to stay secure in place until you slide it out.  Placing it mid-rack should enable you to see and use all the buttons.  The gear below should be things you don't need to adjust during your gigs; the gear above the mixer should be things you need to see better and possibly re-adjust during your gigs.

P.S.  #1 option:  I forgot to mention that the slant-top rackmount enclosures enable you to (1) Adjust the mixer's slant toward you however you want, (2) Un-slant your mixer to lay it flat on top of your enclosure after the gig, plus (3) Close a latchable, truma-resistant lid over the top of your mixer to protect it after (and before) your gigs.

Hi Kim, Thanks for your advice. I’ve now ordered some parts that will hopefully make this possible.

The SKB R106W Rolling Compact Rig is the unit I think will best accommodate for my needs (both for the T8s at the top and six radio devices underneath). I’ve purchased a slanted top tray which I’ll drill a hole in, and then mount the T8s (with some thin rubber matting and washers for shock protection) via the tripod style screw on the bottom side of the desk.

I’ll post some photos with links to products - it might help someone else in a similar situation. I hate having to plug loads of different devices in at every gig. Much more time efficient to have them all in one unit with one mains lead.
