I had great problems updating.
It turned out to be the USB cable. Some cables are not standard, this is common in cables that are shipped with items for charging that don’t require data transfer.

If you use a PC or Mac you can go to the Bose Device Updater site at http://btu.bose.com to update your S1 Pro system. Follow the prompts on the screen and you will be asked to connect your S1 Pro system to the computer using a USB cable.
If the Bose Device Updater does not recognize your S1 Pro system, then try a different cable.
