S1 pro use with BASS guitar and electric guitar

Hi..

i have just bought the new Bose S1 Pro system and i wanted to know if it is safe to use it with a BASS guitar and an electric guitar with a tone processor pedal, i am just concerned if it is safe to do so or is it that the s1 pro is designed only for an acoustic guitar? any support is appreciated

Re: S1 pro use with BASS guitar and electric guitar

Hi Malcolm!

Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Thanks for joining us.

I use my S1 Pro with my electric guitar processors all the time. It works very well.

I have also used the S1 Pro with a bass guitar. At moderate volume, that too is fine. If you push the volume you may hear some break-up in low end.  See this recent discussion for more insights: S1 Pro with Acoustic Bass Guitar

Does that help?

Re: S1 pro use with BASS guitar and electric guitar

Dear St..

Thank you for your quick reply, i just wanted to make sure it is safe to do so before i connect the BASS guitar or my other guitar with a pedal board processor so as to keep the device safe from damage, considering sometime high gain tone like distortion may cause some issues

Thanks once again

Re: S1 pro use with BASS guitar and electric guitar

Hi Malcolm,

The high gain tone is not an issue. You won't hurt the S1 Pro.  Keep an eye on the LEDs on the channels. Red flickers are okay, but if you see solid red, turn down the volume.

What kind of tone processor pedal do you have? Does it do amp emulation or speaker cabinet emulation? That's preferable to effects pedals that are designed to be run into a guitar amp.

I use a Kemper Profiling Amp for some situations and a Boss GT-1 for others. It depends on the gig. I'm delighted with the results.

Dear ST.

Thanks for your reply, i have a Zoom G5 processor which i use(attached a pic of that) ,i am yet to try it on the S1 Pro ,after getting your advice i feel comfortable to connect it ,many thanks for your advice ,i will keep a close watch on the volume to see the LED indicators.

I had plugged in my BASS guitar and was very happy with the deep clean tone it gave.

Your Zoom G5 has amp and cabinet models so I would look forward to some great results.

Check out page 23 in the Zoom G5 Owners Manual.

Set the OUTPUT to DIRECT.

Have fun.

That's terrific. Thanks for coming back to tell us.

Re: S1 pro use with BASS guitar and electric guitar

Hey guys, Im thinking of buying an S1 Pro and I stumbled upon this thread when researching

I understand that S1 has no issues with the electric guitar but that there however might be some issues when using pedals

I have a Vox MV50 mini amp - just a tiny head that sits in the palm of your hand.

So my question is: If I ran my Telecaster through a couple of pedals (overdrive, wah, delay, pitch shifter), then to the Vox MV50 and from there to S1 pro would that be ok sounding?

Thanks!!

Hey Whitemonkey,

Welcome to the forum! Thank you for joining.

This setup using your FX pedals, into the Vox MV50, into the S1 Pro will work absolutely fine, so long as the signal isn't clipping at any stage. Just make sure that the output from your FX pedals isn't going in too hot to the Vox MV50, and check the signal/clip indicator on the S1 to ensure nothing's distorting.

As ST mentioned above, red flickers on the S1's signal/clip indicator are fine, but if you see solid red, turn the channel volume down on the S1.

Hope this helps!
