T1 Mono Signal on Headphones (only left speaker playing sound)

Hi guys,

I own the old T1 model and receive only a signal on the left side of my headphones with following setup (see picture attached):

Guitar goes into tuner, then into distorsion pedal and then into channel 3 of T1. Main out then goes with a TS(!) cable into looper. From looper I have a TRS adapter to a 3,5mm TRS headphone cable.

The signal is only played on the left speaker of the headphone.

Would using a TRS 6,3mm to 6,3mm adapter (see picture attached) into the looper fix it because in theory this should convert the mono signal from the T1 to a "double mono" into the looper?

Hi common,

Please give us a link to the owners manual for the looper.  I'll take a look at that with you.

Thanks,

Hi common,

From what I can see, your Harley Benton Mini Looper is a mono device.

You don't need an adapter between the T1 and the looper.

You need an adapter between the looper and the headphones; something like this:

3.5 mm mono plug to stereo

Does that help?

Re: T1 Mono Signal on Headphones (only left speaker playing sound)

I´m confused. The looper out is 6,3mm. How would that adapter help me? Currently I have an adapter between looper and headphones from 6,3mm to 3,5mm (see picture). If I place this on the master out of the T1 I get signals on both ears. If I place the same one on the looper out I get only a left signal.

Hi Common,

Thanks for the picture. That helps.

You could use the adapter in my previous post between the two pieces you showed in your picture

OR

Get an adapter like this.

https://www.amazon.com/6-3mm-3...+mm+ts+to+3.5+mm+trs

"This device allows you to plug a 3.5mm stereo device into a 6.3mm (1/4 inch) mono device "

Re: T1 Mono Signal on Headphones (only left speaker playing sound)

Hi,

wil get an adapter as you mentioned.

If I connect the L1 Compact directly with a TS cable from the Master Out I would anyhow not have issue since the L1 is mono, correct?

Hi common,

Connecting the T1 to the L1 Compact, you should use a Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable. Note: When used this way, that connection is mono (balanced).

Please see these articles for more details:

T1 to L1 Compact

and

Balanced vs Unbalanced

Re: T1 Mono Signal on Headphones (only left speaker playing sound)

Fully understood for T1 to L1. However, what about my special setup out of the mono looper to the L1. Still TRS cable?

Re: T1 Mono Signal on Headphones (only left speaker playing sound)

Hi Common,

Connecting the T1 to the looper: it won't matter if you use a Tip-Sleeve or Tip-Ring-Sleeve  cable.

The T1 has a balanced output. The looper has an unbalanced input. You only get benefit from a Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable when both ends of the connection are balanced.
