T1 RJ-45 port broken

Hi ST

need a little help please, my T1 Tonematch was working fine last Friday then Saturday it refused to work, all lit up but no sound to speaker, at first I thought it was the lead but after trying 3 I discovered it was the pins in the RJ - 45 port are all bent over each other, God only knows how this has happened, I used a small screwdriver to separate them which gave me sound but only if I wrapped the lead around the T1 to make connection, I fiddled some more and eventually broke a copper pin, now the T1 don’t turn on , it will need a new port , still baffled to how this happened, is it common ?
I use my equipment 3 times per week and it’s approximately 20 months old.
is it under guarantee? so I’m looking for a local BOSE repair to my address which is :

Ramsgate , Kent, UK, CT11 8LP

Many Thanks

Colin

Re: T1 RJ-45 port broken

Hi Colin

Sorry to read of your damage. Having spent 30 years in the audio industry supplying amps and speakers I believe you will find terms and conditions of any warranty will limit the repair or replacement under warranty to matters of faulty design or manufacture - and not user damage.

sadly I believe you’ll need to return it to Bose service for a repair.

I use a T4s as primary mixer but I originally had a T1. I have kept the T1 as a spare - in case...

Re: T1 RJ-45 port broken

Also, to add to the above, you can use the analog outs as well.  Keep a couple of spare 1/4" TRS cables (or just some short adapter cables for standard XLR cables) in your supplies, then you can be ready for such a situation in the future.  Make sure they're TRS though, if it's only TS 1/4", you'll lose some level as it'll be unbalanced.

I'm sorry your T1 isn't working.

This not common.

The T1 comes with a two-year warranty.  The people at Bose Support will tell you if are covered. If you aren't, they can still repair it for a flat fee and then unit will then have a one-year warranty.
