T1™ to L1™ Model II / Model I - Analog connection - Balanced or Unbalanced

For this discussion, let's talk about analog connections only. Let's assume that we are already using the T1 ToneMatch™ port (or that we don't have the cable).

We are talking about ¼ inch connections from the T1™ Master or Aux analog outputs.

T1™ to L1™ Model II Power Stand
Should we expect any difference between.

T1™ --> analog balanced Tip-Ring-Sleeve --> L1™ Model II Power Stand

and

T1™ --> analog unbalanced Tip-Sleeve --> L1™ Model II Power Stand

Is there any advantage (other than line noise issues and cable length) to running balanced vs. unbalanced?

Or put another way, assuming no noise issues (short runs, clean environment), would we set the L1™ Model II Power Stand input lower running unbalanced?

T1™ to Model I & Classic

I understand that the Model I and Classic Power Stand Channels 3 and 4 are unbalanced. Is there any reason to choose a balanced cable over an unbalanced cable when connecting The T1™ to the Model I or Classic?

ST - thanks for putting the questions in such an organized way. I'll try to answer:

Yes, you would set the input trim a little lower. But you should be able to get plenty of level with either type of cable.

No, the result will be the same in either case.

Thanks Bill,

Exactly what I wanted to know. I'll find a way to get it into the wiki.

So noise is the only possible real issue ?

Hi Tom,

I think we've got that covered over here:

Connecting a T1 to an L1 Compact - Balanced vs Unbalanced ?

Noise isn't an issue until you hear it. With a balanced cable, you're much less likely to hear it,
