T8S to S1 static noise.

I am finding it very difficult to overcome static noise and hiss when coming out from my T8S to a S1 speaker. The noise lever is very low until I increase the sound level past the 50% point. Volume increases on the S1 volume beyond 75% is basically too noisy to use. I am using Van Damme Quad core microphone xlr cables out of the T8S to the S1 speaker. Less noise is being received when coming out of the T8S from the 1/4 inch analogue output.

Any suggestions or reasons for this happening?

If you are using an XLR cable from the T8S to the S1 Pro, set the volume on the S1 Pro at 9:00 o'clock.

If you are using 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable from the T8S to the S1 Pro, set the volume on the S1 Pro at 10:00 o'clock.

ToneMatch Mixer to S1 Pro

Set Bass and Treble at 12:00 o'clock

Set ToneMatch switch Off

Set Reverb Off

Then control the overall volume with the T8S Master Volume control.

Also, please make sure the firmware on the T8S is up to date.

And also for the S1 Pro.

Hi, Rocket8,

If you have not updated the firmware in the T4S/T8S or the S1 Pro, then you definitely should update it now.

Re: T8S to S1 static noise.

Will I do damage by increasing the volume you have recommended on the S1 - I might be using the S1 as a dj monitor, so may need more volume.

You won't do any damage, but if you turn the S1 Pro volume much higher than the settings shown you may hear an excessive hiss (the static sound you described). Although at higher volume levels you probably won't hear the hiss because the music will be loud.

If you see the signal light on the S1 Pro turn solid red, turn down the volume on the S1 Pro.

You can connect the T4S to your L1 for power. You don't need a separate power supply.

Can I ask if this is a problem with the S1, as I have many F1's systems and they don't make half the noise at higher volume levels?

This isn't a problem with the S1 Pro. If you disconnect all the cables from the S1 Pro inputs, you should find you can turn up the channel volume controls well beyond 12:00 o'clock without any appreciable noise. Bose has determined that for most applications the best setting for connecting a T4S/T8S to the S1 Pro is as I described in my previous posts.

As for comparing the S1 Pro to the F1 Model 812, the gain structure on the inputs is different.
