The EQ Primer

Many of the keyboards we play have a fantastic range of EQ settings we can adjust on the KB's themselves. Far beyond and wider than the adjustments we can make with a T1. I DO use a T1 with my Model ll & 2 B1's (and then keep the KB EQ flat but with the COMP ON) as I'm concerned with the overall balance of sound of voice and KB.

But when using the Compact with my Tyros 3, I struggled at first to get the EQ right as I liked it. When using the Compact it is usually when I haven't got much room. I then feed the Mic in via the KB and can then also use the onboard Vocal Harmony, Mic Effects etc.

But I was still not happy with the KB's EQ with the Compact until I found the EQ Primer here: The EQ Primer

I think this is an invaluable tool to help setting up the EQ on a KB - or other instrument - and really recommend looking at it. It'll make you think much more with your ears about the sound you want.

Hope it helps

Re: The EQ Primer

Hi Freddie,

This is one of the best links I have seen added to this forum. It is recommended reading and study material for anyone in the music business.

I would also suggest to ST that it be added to the info in the wiki.

Thanks,
O..

Done!

I have added a link to this in the T1® Para EQ page. I could not include the copyright protected material verbatim, so the link will have to do.

I put this on the T1® ParaEQ page because this is the only place in any of the Bose equipment where we have enough control to use the information.

How's that?

Re: The EQ Primer

On a related note (sorry), as players of keyboards emulating a great range of instruments, here's a very useful chart of frequency ranges. Hope this is of help, too.
