Tonematch T1 + Shure WBH 54 B

Hi,

this post is not really an issue.

We are using the Tonematch T1 and with a Shure SM 58 beta and selected the preset, a bit of tweaking on the EQ's and that was awesome.

We decide to buy a Shure WBH 54B, headset mic for the singer & keyboardist.

What would be the best preset to choose from?

No feedback at all, never, with the Beta, with the proper gain/master regulation.

With the 54B, even with very low gain, there is some feedback on a very high frequency. we choose the mic just because it has a super cardioid response.

Any advice for the preset?

Any trick?

Thank you in advance!

Hello Mmilian,

Once you turn phantom power on in the T1 settings, it is on for all XLR channels, regardless of any presets.

Looking at info on the 54B, I might suggest trying the Shure Beta 87A preset as a starting point.  The presets are just that (starting points) to help you get started.  You can try any preset you want (even instruments if you like), it won't damage anything.  Once you find one you like, use the zEQ to adjust to taste, and have fun!

Does that help?

Hey mmilian!

As there is no preset for the WBH 54B, I'd advise using one of the Shure presets as a starting point then tweaking as necessary.

Feedback is more likely to occur due to mic positioning as opposed to preset settings. A headset mic may be more susceptible to feedback as there is likely to be more movement. I recommend ensuring that the mic is not located directly in front of your speaker or monitor to avoid any feedback loops.

Hope this helps!

Re: Tonematch T1 + Shure WBH 54 B

Hi Dylan,

thank you for your quick answer.

This headset microphone requires Phantom so I hope there is a Shure preset that would match that condenser mic type.

Movement is the key to have changed to HS mic for the keyboardist/lead vocal.

We will make some tests and play around, I'm pretty sure we'll rich an excellent result on the end.

Regards,

Marc
