Use 2 L1 model 2 as Mains w/ QSC Touchmix 16

I currently own one L1 m2 system with a T1 Tonematch, and was contemplating replacing my band's current PA setup.  We have 12 different inputs for vocals and instruments, so we run through a QSC Touchmix 16, and use the multiple Aux outputs to manage multiple monitor mixes using in-ear monitors.

My question is:  If I were to purchase a second L1 m2 with another Bass module, would it be as simple as running the Main L output directly into one Bose tower, and the Main R output into the other Bose tower, using XLR to TRS cables to plug directly into the Analog input on the base?  We DO have a stereo Keyboard input among the list, and I am not clear if the setup I propose would create any phase canceling or other sound issues.

To be clear, we are not looking to utilize the Bose for stage monitoring...they would strictly be for FOH Main Speakers.

Thanks in advance for any help the forum can provide!

Yes!

If you've got the L1 systems at least 20 feet apart, or you run the stereo keyboard with stereo patches, you should be fine.

Re: Use 2 L1 model 2 as Mains w/ QSC Touchmix 16

Chiming in to agree with ST -- That setup will work perfectly. I use my two L1's with a variety of stereo mixers (mostly Yamaha TF, occasionally QSC TouchMix) and they work well, and require little EQ to sound fine.

An aside -- my first experience with the L1's was mixing a month of blues and jazz festival shows in an indoor mall, using two L1's and a Yamaha TF1, with four Yorkville NX10C's for monitors (the S1 Pro didn't exist yet., otherwise they'd likely have been used for monitors).

In the internal pocket in each Power Stand bag, I keep:

  1. the NL4 cable to connect the Power Stand to the base,
  2. a 25' IEC power cable to plug the whole works into power (you don't *have* to use the Bose supplied power cable), and
  3. a 15' XLR-F to TRS-M cable so I can use any XLR cable to connect to the mixer.

(On a side note, I wish that Bose had used an XLR or even a locking TRS for the line input on the L1; I understand why they didn't, and there really isn't space internally to retrofit, but I can dream... 🙂

I use two L1 M2s with Behringer XR18 for our 5-pc band, 5 vocals, keys, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and electric bass - works beautifully!
