Re: tone match T8s will not play memory stick

Hi codydog19.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with the USB A playback on your T8S.

Are you saying that when you put the same files on a different USB device everything works, or that a specific mp3 file won't work regardless or which USB device you use?

Here's a list of USB devices that are known to work.

USB drives Bose has tested with the T4S and T8S ToneMatch mixers

  • Verbatim Nano 8GB - USB 2.0 (49820)
  • Toshiba TransMemory 32GB U303 - USB 3.0 (THN-U303W0320E4)
  • SanDisk Cruzer Blade 64GB - USB 2.0 (SDCZ50-064G-B35)
  • SanDisk Cruzer Blade 32GB - USB 2.0 (SDCZ50-032G)
  • SanDisk Ultra Flair 16GB - USB 3.0 (SDCZ73-016G-G46)
  • Intenso Alu Line 16GB - USB 2.0 (specific model # unclear)
  • PNY 64GB - USB 2.0 (FD64GATT4-EF)
  • Kingston DataTraveler 50 32GB - USB 3.1 (specific model # unclear)
  • PNY Attache 16GB - USB 2.0 (FD16GATT03-GE)

The following devices have been reported to work by T4S/T8S owners.

Sandisk Extreme 64Gb formatted FAT 32

Re: tone match T8s will not play memory stick

To answer your question yes if I move the USB stick to any other USB device it will play it just won't play on the T8. I did see the list of thumbsticks that will play on the T8 I will try one of them and get back to you. Thanking you for your continued support!

Re: tone match T8s will not play memory stick

Could it also be that a particular track is not formatted correctly?

would an .mp3 or .wav at 44100 sample rate fail as the T4&8 work at 48000 sample rate? See attached image from the manual.59203216-C054-4468-805C-39078884AECC

Re: tone match T8s will not play memory stick

Good day..Ordered the Sandisk Extreme 64Gb formatted FAT 32

Recorded 12 songs wav and 10 songs mp3...both worked at the 44100 sample rate.Neither format played on any other thumbdrive.Hope it helps!

Re: tone match T8s will not play memory stick

That means the manual is a little misleading in the “48000” statement.

it may we’ll be the system runs at 48000 but it can be construed tha material needs to be....

Wonder why a memory stick just can’t be any old memory stick, why is it that only certain brands are accepted by the system?

on a pc you can plug virtually any old stick in and it will work (after installing the driver). Maybe that’s the rub, only certain drivers are installed?

Re: tone match T8s will not play memory stick

Hi ScubaBadger,

I understand it's inconvenient to have to think about the compatibility of the USB media. It's another one of those things we have to consider when we're connecting external devices like, balanced/unbalanced connections, impedance matching, phantom power, signal/speaker cables, AC line voltage.

The 48 kHz/24 bit specification

We don't have control over the sample rate and bit depth of mp3 and wav files we get from various sources. That's not the issue here.

We need to use USB Media that has been tested and known to work. It's not a trivial thing to ensure compatibility across devices.

Re: tone match T8s will not play memory stick

Thanks ST

I understand fully the issues - as I couldn't get a guest artist working due to the incompatibility issue but, the "48kHz/24Bit" notes in the manual "could" lead people to believe their media has to be to this spec....

Thanks

Dave
