I'm used to use Echo cancellation in larger rooms that use video conference systems and have more than one microphone.. This might be Auditoriums that have cieling mics for audience comments etc. I do a few of these every year and video conference systems don't have echo cancellation good enough for these situations and not enough mic inputs.
