Bose CSP428

Not really a major issue with the product but more of a "what are you guys thinking?" topic. I just uploaded new firmware to my CSP428 and noticed that the file name bose fw.JPGextracted from the zip file does not match what is actually uploaded to the device. As seen below.

Bose FW2.JPG

Why can't the name of the file that is to be uploaded match the name of the file that is actually uploaded? Is it some computer 101 rule? It becomes extremely confusing when updating firmware and the file you thought was correct does not even come close to the file that was uploaded to the device. Other than the name changing to something other than what you thought.

DSPs can be an intimidating item for newbie techs. Having an issue like this can confuse them more and turn them to the dark side of Low Voltage Systems (Security).

Help me Obi Bose Kenobi.

Jay

Re: Bose CSP428

Hello Jay,

Thank you for contacting us.

I can imagine that this is confusing, but the file you upload (CSP_v1.0.4.frm) contains multiple file updates like:

  • Application version
  • Firmware version
  • Web UI version
  • EQ version

But the version of the compressed file you do not see in this overview.

I will log this as a feature request.

Thank you.
