ESP-88 Background Noise

Hello,

I am using an ESP-88 for hifi, I have background noise in the sound, if I use EDR output cards can I reduce this noise?

Thanks

Re: ESP-88 Background Noise

Hello Totodup,

The EDR input card has a dynamic range of 115 dB and the EDR output card has a dynamic range of 114 dB.

Have you tried to connect an EDR input channel directly to an EDR output channel?
Also with and without connecting a source?

You might need to check your gain structure?

Re: ESP-88 Background Noise

Hello Arno,
Thank you for your reply
I have not fully resolved my problem.
I reduced the background noise by having a high level input.

To test I put a blank design and I still had my background noise 😠

I specify: I use on speakers which have a higher sensitivity than Bose speakers

(Sensitivity 1W@1M Cabasse = 94dB / Bose DS100 = 85dB)

Re: ESP-88 Background Noise

Hello Totodup,

Using loudspeakers with a high sensitivity should improve the noise as you need less signal to be sent to the amplifier.

Could the noise be generated by the amplifier?
(perhaps try another amplifier)

Maybe an impedance mismatch somewhere in the chain?

I think the best way is to first connect the loudspeakers to the amplifier.
No noise, connect the ESP to the amplifier.
Still no noise, connect the source to the ESP.

Re: ESP-88 Background Noise

Hi Arno,

Yes, but small signals get along even more easily

Could the noise be generated by the amplifier?

If I unplug the ESP from the amp, I don't have background noise.

Maybe an impedance mismatch somewhere in the chain?

The amplifier is a Denon PMA-1510AE, can you check if the impedance is OK ? I use Direct Amp input.

Thanks for your help
