The Bose Community Forum was launched at a time when robust online support was not available for Bose customers. Over the past several years we have added new online service channels that provide a more interactive and complete digital experience. Additionally, we have enhanced the My Bose Account capabilities to deliver a more personalized and self-service experience. As a result, Bose has made the decision to close Community Forum for Consumer electronics products on September 30th. The Bose Pro portion of the Community will still operate as usual.

Please visit our support homepage to experience one of our many other digital service channels or simply use your Community log-in credentials to sign in to your My Bose Account to view your orders and view support options.

Thank you to all who have contributed and benefited from interacting in our Community. We look forward to continuing to serve you online.

PM8500N - Serial-over-Ethernet Control

Hi all,

One of our dealers encountered a problem using Serial-over-Ethernet controlling PM8500N.

All works fine until PM8500N is rebooted. It becomes uncontrollable. But if they reboot the control system, it works well again.

The control system is Smart, C5. Does anyone have any experience in this? Thank you!

Re: PM8500N - Serial-over-Ethernet Control

Hi Sunny,

Im not familiair with the control system "Smart C5", but once a PM is power cycled (rebooted) a new connection has to be established.
Most control systems can do this automatically, But maybe with the "Smart C5" they have to program this.

Re: PM8500N - Serial-over-Ethernet Control

Arno's suggestion is the same as mine. The existing SOIP connection needs to be closed by the Smart C5 if it's not being power cycled with the PM8500N. The way we handle this under the hood in CSR is that if we try to send a command 3 times to the PM/ESP. If we don't get a response, we close the SOIP connection and attempt to re-establish a new one. My guess is the Smart C5 is not expecting this error state and therefore not handling it.

Thank you both. I talked to our dealer, they verified that it's the problem of the control system. It cannot rebuild the connection automatically.
