New sounds - let’s discuss our thoughts
Well, we got a firmware update (no idea really what it did, but seems to have caused issues for many). And a new app, with a new interface that no one wanted or asked for and has now made the quick use of the Sleepbuds at bedtime include an additional step with a full bright screen rather than the old ‘play’ button we used to get on the nice dark Sleepbuds connection screen.
But we also got some new sounds, which Bose don’t seem to have mentioned here at all (unless I missed it). I knew they were coming as spotted a, quickly pulled, Facebook post from Bose last week a number of days before the update actually dropped, but when I first updated the app the sounds weren’t there. I incorrectly assumed the app update didn’t include new sounds. A check a few days later, prompted by another post on here, and the new sounds are all available.
I know I have been pretty negative on here about the issues we all have with the Sleepbuds and the lack of engagement Bose have with us, so I figured it would be good to post some positives when they do occur. Of course, this could just be my personal opinion, but I believe these new sounds are a huge improvement from the older sounds available. The noise masking sounds are all variations of white or pink noise and much more pure than the older sounds (less elements to clutter and enhance the loop triggering). The naturescapes are more complex than just noisemasking, but I feel have less repetitive elements to them that can be fixated on and cause anxiety whilst trying to sleep. It sounds like there’s just the two layers in there, and that, for me is certainly giving me a much better experience than the old sounds (which I think were just trying to be too clever instead of keeping it simple so we can sleep).
These new sounds certainly appear to have been created with our comments in mind, but could just be what they were working on anyway. It would be so nice if the Bose Sleepbuds team would post on here to tell us what they took from our posts and how they went about creating these new sounds (and their future plans).
I’d be very interested to here from the rest of the community to see if you agree with me, or if you continue to have issues with the new sounds (or if there are issues, are the less annoying now and so a step in the right direction).
