is the Bose 500 home speaker 802.11 compatible (WiFi)? and if so what RF band will it need, 802.11 b/g/n or 802.11 a/n/ac?
Hi pbuck,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Bose Community.
I can confirm that the Home Speaker 500 is Wi-Fi compatible and the supported wireless network standards are 802.11 b/g/n/ac.
I hope this clears things up for you.
Do let me know if you have any further questions.
Warm regards,

hi Charlotte,
thanks for your response.
I do have a follow up question; will the Home speaker 500 require multicast?
If so, would you know what multicast IP it uses?
I ask, because we are looking to enable these speaker in a Corporate level RF network and I am thinking that multicast filter may be needed. If so, I may have to generate a new SSID and enable/disable some of the .11e functions.
Sincerely
pbuck
Hi there @pbuck and thank you for your patience regarding this!
After looking into this further for you, I would normally recommend that you have the following settings matched on a network to allow Enterprising hardware to be used:
-Multicast - Enabled.
-Enterprise Security - Disabled.
-UPnP - Enabled.
-Bonjour - Enabled.
As far as Multicast itself is concerned, this would use port 5353 (UDP).
I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any further questions!
