Hi again RCB13,
Thank you for uploading those log files!
Very odd. I can't say I've heard of this happening before.
I've just tested Pandora again on the HS500 and it is still working for me and playing multiple songs in a row without issue. However, I did try free Pandora and not Pandora Premium. Are you able to create a free Pandora account
You can try and return it to the point of sale or contact our support line via phone, however I don't believe this is a product failure.
Thanks for letting me know that Pandora works on your HS500. I have tried a free Pandora account but that does not work either.
I have worked with three support specialists at Bose and one from Pandora but they cannot figure it out either. It is being escalated to a third level. They are supposed to call me so we will see. I have had this same trouble with three different speakers from 2 sources. Perhaps I am haunted.
Thanks for trying, RCB13
Hi Brandon et. al.,
Bingo, it was the router! Your telling me that you could play Pandora on HS500 led me to believe it must be something specific to my situation. So I did one of the few things I could think to do and switched to a different router I happened to have around. Lo an behold it worked. I don't know what was wrong with the original router since my other internet devises worked fine as did the speaker when playing Sirius. I guess it will just remain a mystery.
Thanks for all your help!
Excellent! However this still baffles me since the EA8500 should be fully compatible with any Bose Smart Home speaker.
Do you know the brand and model of the new router you are using?
Are you able to do a factory reset on the EA8500 and set it up again?
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!
Unfortunately I was premature in my presumption of success. The speaker worked properly for about 12 hrs and then went back to the old behavior. One new wrinkle: if I unplug the router briefly and then plug it back in again, once the speaker finds the internet it will play one Pandora song and then stop. This is the same behavior as unplugging the speaker itself and plugging it back in.
Very wierd and dissapointing,
I have a new theoriy. After the speaker went down again I tried several things which either did not work or worked partially (one song played), I desperation I tried switching back to the original router. To my surprise that worked.
I now believe that the router needed to be reset (unplugged for more than 30sec). I had turned the router off before but perhaps not for 30 sec. Anyway it is working at the moment!
I hope the problem is finally solved but we will see,
The Real Solution:
The router needed to be rebooted. The router issue was specific to the speaker and Pandora as other devises on my network could play Pandora and the speaker could play other sites like Amazon Music. I rebooted the router and it seems to have solved the problem as the speaker has been functioning properly for 36+ hours.
Thanks for alll your help, RCB13
