Bose Soundbar 700 sound drops - Firmware 7.0.11

Hi there!

Very happy with my sound setup right now, except while watching movies, playing games, or watching TV via settopbox, the sound drops / cuts once in +/- the 5 minutes.

I've tried the Optical cable (which came along with the Soundbar) instead of the HDMI(ARC) (which also came along), but it still happens. Tried different sound settings in the Bose app, TV, but none of them worked for me.

Right here my setup:

➡️ How is your Soundbar connected to the internet, is it Ethernet or Wifi?

Wifi

➡️ If Wifi what make is your Router?
TP-Link Archer C2300

➡️ How are you listening to audio when the sound drops and is there any specific apps affected?

Via TV (SONY KDL-55W809C) or Settopbox (Arcadyan hmb2260, KPN), PS4

➡️ Does this happen on all sources?
Happens with all mentioned above, EXCEPT listening via TuneIn or Spotify WiFi directly to the soundbar.

➡️ Does there seem to be any pattern when this happens?
Happens +/- once in 5 minutes

➡️ What devices are connected to the SB?
Only TV with HMDI-ARC

➡️ What TV do you have?
SONY KDL-55W809C

➡️ How is your system set up?
Bose Soundbar 700 with Bose Surround 300

➡️ How long after the update did you start experiencing issues?
From start since i bought the Soundbar 700, february 2020. (It happened already without the Surround 300 speaker)

This is very frustrating because I just want to enjoy the beautiful sound of this Bose setup i have right now in my living room 😉.

I've red almost every similar topics about the same issue I experience, but none of them worked or me.

Please, give me a fix for this issue! 🙏🏻

Hi Keith!

Thanks for your reply, the following i've tried:

➡️ With this following setup:
- SONY TV → HDMI(ARC) → Bose Soundbar 700
- SONY TV → Optical → Bose Soundbar 700

I've tried to change the settings of the following:

ADAPTIQ: on / off,
Dialog mode: on / off,
Audiotrack: Track 1 / Track 2 / Both,
Advanced CEC: on / off / Alternative

None of above worked and sound drops keeps existing.

➡️ With this following setup:
- Settopbox (Arcadyan hmb2260, KPN), → Optical → Bose Soundbar 700

This worked...

But not the desired solution, because also the PS4 and sound from the TV should also go via the Bose Soundbar 700. So I figured out it must be the TV that causes the sound drops.

As I tried many of the sound settings in the TV, the problem still exist!

  THE SOLUTION:

The last thing i've tried was resetting the TV completely to manufacture settings:
AND.THIS.WORKED!

Also the surround speakers, bass and dolby effect are now perfect, never heard this quality before 👏

Thanks Keith, hope this will help other users with the same problem.

Greetings,

Stef

Hi Stfwnm,

Thank you for joining us in the community!

I completely understand the frustration you have with this and would be happy to get you enjoying that beautiful bose sound without the interruptions!

Thank you for the information you have provided as well, it's really helpful to work out what the next steps will be! I do have a few extra questions as well, to get an even clearer picture of the issue.

As you have mentioned reading some previous posts about similar issues, what troubleshooting have you tried from those posts so far?

Also, what settings in the TV and Bose Music app have you tried changing so far?

As it does just seem to be happening with the TV connection to the soundbar, one thing that would definitely be worth testing is connecting the optical cable directly to either your set-top box or PS4 rather than the TV and seeing if you still see the same issue.

I look forward to hearing from you!
