The Bose Community Forum was launched at a time when robust online support was not available for Bose customers. Over the past several years we have added new online service channels that provide a more interactive and complete digital experience. Additionally, we have enhanced the My Bose Account capabilities to deliver a more personalized and self-service experience. As a result, Bose has made the decision to close Community Forum for Consumer electronics products on September 30th. The Bose Pro portion of the Community will still operate as usual.

Connect soundbar and chromecast to TV

Hello All,

I have a Bose soundbar 500, google chromecast and Sony tv with 2 HDMI ports. I want the sound to be redirected to soundbar while streaming using chromecast on TV.

My setup is as below -

1) Bose 500 is connected to TV using HDMI cable on port 1.

2) Chromecast is connected to TV using HDMI cable PORT 2.

3) In settings I have changed the speakers to audio speakers.

The video is streaming fine on TV but no audio coming out of sounds at. It is only when I remove the connection of soundbar to TV sound is coming from TV. Please help how can I make possible the sound to be redirected to soundbar.

Re: Connect soundbar and chromecast to TV

Thanks for your message. Happy to help out with the audio issues that you've described.

Firstly, is this the first-time setup of your Soundbar 500? Do you have any other sources connected to the TV that you are able to hear through the speaker, or is audio completely silent? Do other sources, like Bluetooth or the Bose Music app provide audio through the soundbar?

If this is a first-time setup, there are a few things to check. Firstly, the soundbar is set to input/receive audio from the TV source. This can be done by pressing the TV button on the Soundbar 500's remote. Secondly, outputting audio from the TV. Each TV will vary slightly for how to do this - it sounds like step 3 of your message discussed this briefly. What exact options/settings do you have available to you?

It's also important to make sure that the soundbar is connected to your TV's HDMI ARC port. Many TVs may only have one of these ports available. If you do not have an ARC port on your TV, you can use an optical cable to connect the two systems instead.
