Soundbar 700 Remote and LG C8 TV

I own a LG OLED55C8 TV and a Bose Soundbar 700 + Bass module 700.

I have added the LG tv to the Bose remote, but when I press the Home or Menu button on the Bose remote it will always show the settings menu of the LG tv.

In this way I cannot access the Smarthub of the LG TV.

Can this fixed such that the Bose remote Home button will access the Home menu of the TV (including SmartHub) and the Menu button will show the settings menu of the LG tv?

See below picture.

This would be great to know for Sony remotes too. We can’t bring the Discover button up with shows us our added apps

Also there is no stop button! You can’t exit a film on a PS4 without using the PS4 controller or the Sony Remote

Re: Soundbar 700 Remote and LG C8 TV

Hi Atlantis

Thanks for writing in!

I can certainly put in a feature request for you regarding this!  This is a tough one because the universal remotes were designed to control thousands of third party products.  Because of this, not all the buttons will map over 100%.

Warm Regards,

Tony A

Re: Soundbar 700 Remote and LG C8 TV

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your reply.
It would be convenient to have this for the Bose remote, because currently I have to use my original TV remote to access apps (Netflix, YouTube, etc...) in the SmartHub.

Re: Soundbar 700 Remote and LG C8 TV

Dear Bose,

I found another issue with the universal remote pause/resume button.

When I watch Netflix and pause the movie, then it will not pause (nor resume). It looks like the pause/resume button on the Bose remote is not programmed to do this.

I have to use the original LG remote again to pause/resume the movie. It is the rotation knob on the LG remote that needs to be pressed.

Can you please fix this as well? See below picture.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Soundbar 700 Remote and LG C8 TV

Hello Tony,
Is there an update on having those controls mapped correctly for the LG TV’s? I have the LG C8 65inch and experiencing controller issues. Tonight lost all controls and Alexa stopped working also.

Re: Soundbar 700 Remote and LG C8 TV

Hi Jay,

Thanks for the question.

There are no further updates on this ticket.

The issue that you are having sounds different from what Atlantis was experiencing.

Have you gotten control of your system back?  Did you try any troubleshooting steps to resolve this?

Let us know.

Best,

Brandon - Community Support

Hi Brandon,
Yes, I did a reboot (unplugged for 30 seconds) and everything is back to normal.

Thank you,
Jay

Re: Soundbar 700 Remote and LG C8 TV

Hi Tony

Just wanted to add that I have the exact same problem. Love the Bose remote but it’s effectively useless to me unless the Home button can be mapped to the LG SmartHub button. I have had to go back to the LG Magic Remote so I have access to this important function.

(Running a Bose 700 sound bar with the LG OLED C8)

There are lots of us who would be delighted if you could fix this!

Thanks
