Sound Touch app notwithstanding, Bose does a pretty good job mixing and matching their product lines, especially the products that work. Case in point the Acoustimass modules. The original AM 300 was a daring departure from the older style sound modules. Now it has been included with the new line of Bose speakers along with the AM 500 which was originally seen included in the SoundTouch 300 bundles sold at box stores. Sound like backwards compatibility is aviaible with these bass modules as well,

My sound bar is a Cinemate 130 with a SoundTouch adaptor added on. This series was originally introduced as an SR, I  beleive and concluded as a SoundTouch 130. There are other examples where Bose uses it components in ways to extend their product lines. 

The latest Acoustimass 500 and 700 modules are good looking and sounding components and match their counterpart soundbars quite nicely.

I have used the SoundTouch 300 with the Acoustimass 300 bass module and the Virtually invisible 300 speakers. I have also used the same Soundtouch 300 with the Bass module 500 and Bass Module 700. Additionally I have used the Soundbar 500 with the Bass Module 500 and the Acoustimass 300 Bass Module at separate times during testing. All of the older Virtually invisible 300 and Acoustimass 300 speakers are compatible with all three soundbars. The reverse is also true that all the newer accessories pair to all three soundbars. The only thing to keep in mind is two bass modules hooked to one soundbar can only be identical modules.

Are 500,700 bass modules compatible with ST-300, and acoustic mass 300 compatible with sondbar 500,700?

According to Bose you can use either Sub with the Soundbar 500/700 ,but not every Sub with the ST300.

BUT - According to /r/Bose on reddit you can use the Sub 500/700 with the ST300 as well.

Thanks for the question.  The BM500 and BM700 will work with the SoundTouch 300 without issue.  As well, the AM300 will work with the Soundbar 500 and 700.

So let just confirm before I buy. I can purchase a BM500 sub woofer and it will work seamlessly with my soundtouch 300 soundbar and VI300 rear speakers with no problem. Also that it will appear in the app as an additional volume control?

Sorry if asking the same question as I got confused.

I have a Soundtouch 300 paired with a Acousticmass 300 and Invisible 300. If I updagrade to the Soundbar 700... will I be able to make it work with my existing Acousticmass 300 and Invisible 300?

Also, in terms of sound quality... any diffeence between Soundtouch 300  and the Soundbar 700?
