Bose 700 Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio

As the Bose 700 has an eARC port with is currently pointless as the Soundbar doesn't support any audio codec that requires it, at the moment, will we be seeing a firmware update to support Dolby TrueHD or/and DTS-HD Master Audio.

I understand to support Atmos you would need further speakers to be added to the mix however DTS-HD MA doesnt require the height speakers, its just uncompressed audio.

My questions are:

-Is the hardware in the Bose 700 capable of decoding DTS-HD MA, requiring just a software update to enable it.

-Is there any plans in the works to support DTS-HD MA on this product, with a software update.

-If not, can someone from Bose please explain why eARC was put on this product.

Best

Darren

Re: Bose 700 Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio

Could someone from Bose kindly respond to the above please.

Also, can you answer the below as I cant find this data anywhere.

-If a TrueHD source is fed into the Bose 700, will the SB decode this down to DD, or will it just not play?

-As above, if a DTS-HD MA source is fed into the Bose 700, will the SB decode this down to DTS, or will it just not play?

@Scramz Thanks for raising these questions.

@Bose: I'm very interested in those details too.

Re: Bose 700 Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio

hi, forget about some improvements and fixing problems that you have, the company does not value its customers does not release new products that can not compete with b & o whose smart speaker is just a new Beosound Balance bomb. Even services cannot be added by deezer hifi, TIDAL is not a company but a zoo I am extremely disappointed that I gave 2000 to this company, it would be better if I bought something one and a half times more expensive, for example b & o or bluesound which have a level of more services, 1000 times better software , and there is a team of specialists and not monkeys who cannot help but fix or fix something.

Re: Bose 700 Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio

the company will go broke soon look, the first step of closing all its stores has already been taken, there is NO NORMAL SUPPORT for customers, all ctrl-c ctrl-v I wrote a message to all sources twice, no one answered me. There are no new models either. Where the 900 soundbar model with DD ATMOS is simply not there, where the new sound free sports 500 headphones are also missing, there are simply no words.

Hi RAMSHIK,

I did not create the thread to flame Bose but instead to gain some technical specs on their product.

I understand you seem to be having issues with your product therefore I recommend creating your own thread for your matter. I would like this tread to stay on course and to not be derailed.

I can’t say for sure about the DTS - HD or Atmos codec but I believe the bandwidth capabilities of the e-ARC port (and HDMI cable) could benefit from sources like Netflix’s High Quality Audio.

Re: Bose 700 Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio

Hi, Netflix HQ audio runs at 630kbps (DD+), ARC is 1Mbps at base level but can pass more. Netflix HQ audio is passed with ARC and doesn’t require eARC.

DTSHD and TrueHD can pass with eARC.

Your question is a good one and does make one think why e-Arc on the new sound bars. Maybe Bose has something planned in the form of wireless presence speakers.

I upgraded from optical and have been watching Netflix streams on my trusty Cinemate 130 using HDMI ARC connection. Sounds great, better than optical.
