Bose Home Speaker 500 Voice Support

Just bought a new Home Speaker 500, only trouble is I can’t get the voice assistant set up to work with Google or Alexa !

 

Have launched both Alexa and Google apps, signed in to my Bose acct through the API but the Bose Music app sends me back to Alexa or Google and the set up doesn’t complete - either skill noir found or set up incomplete.

Have tried deleting apps, reinstalled etc but no joy.


I’m using an up to date iPhone XR to attempt set-up. Home WiFi service isn’t all connected and phone connects via Bluetooth or airplay no problem.

 

Please advise

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Bose Community! Sorry to hear that you are having some issues with setting up a voice assistant with your speaker. 

 

I'd recommend following the set up steps here for Alexa and here for Google Assistant to ensure that you are correctly setting up the voice assistant. 

 

Please can you also let me know if you are able to set the voice assistant up using another device, to see if the same issue persists.

i did a full factory reset and deinstalled Bose music and google assistant and started set-up from scratch and managed to get it to work. My phone also had an IOS upgrade in the meantime.

I live in the UK

 

Firmware Version

(10.0.10 - 9304+6a8d444)

App Version

(4.2.4)

What devices were you using that were affected and what version are they on

(Samsung Galaxy S8, running android 8.0.0 )

Detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce

followed the setup guidance. Spotify connected ok. Tried to set up voice assistants but app just says: "we're having trouble accessing voice assistants at this time. It's possible that this feature isn't available in your area. Please check back later." Live in the UK so surprised if bose boice assistance doesn't work here??? Tried to link google and alexa API, but it doesn't seem to want to acknowledge linked to bose device. Cleared google cache in settings. Read through numerous forums. No joy!

 

What environment do you experience the issue in?

(Living room)

 

When did you start to experience the issue? Did it work correctly previously? 

I have just purchased this Bose Home Speaker 500. Assistant never worked.

 

Any troubleshooting steps you took

I have uninstalled/reinstalled Bose Music app about 30 times. Very frustrating! Read all the advice on forums. Linked API via Google assistant and Alexa. Factory reset speaker and updated to latest firmware. Getting to the point of sending it back and asking for a refund. Not user friendly at this point!
