Bose Portable Smart Speaker continuous charging on the cradle

Hello all,

The battery indicator in the Bose Music app on ios is showing 100% battery and the charging indicator all the time.

Does this mean that the speaker is charging all the time?

I have read that the speaker is smart enough to stop charging when the battery is full.

Thanks for coming back to us!

The indicator in the application is letting you know that the speaker is connected to power.

You do not need to worry about overcharging. The process mentioned above is carried out internally and your speaker will be protected.

Re: Bose Portable Smart Speaker continuous charging on the cradle

Hello Marteto,

Thanks for posting.

The lithium batteries have a built-in auto-off feature when a full charge is reached to prevent the battery from being overcharged. Even while still plugged in, the battery level will have to drop below a certain point to trigger the charging again.

I hope this helps!

Re: Bose Portable Smart Speaker continuous charging on the cradle

Hi,

your statement is exactly what I have read also.

The thing is that my speaker is staying on the charging cradle and in the bose music app I see that the battery is 100% all the time and the charging indicator is still showing that the speaker is charging.

For me this is strange behaviour.

Hi,

I am not talking for neither of the hardware indicators on the speaker (the document you have sent me).

The indicator which is bothering me is in the app. I have attached you a screenshot, the green flash which is underlined with black on the photo.

Re: Bose Portable Smart Speaker continuous charging on the cradle

Hi Marteto.

Thank you for getting back to us.

If the speaker is staying on the cradle all the time, it will keep on charging when it detects that there is a drop of charge in the speaker. This is true especially if you leave it turned on even not in use.

The auto-off feature when a full charge is reached to prevent the battery from being overcharged, is built in on the battery. In the app it will show 100%.

Re: Bose Portable Smart Speaker continuous charging on the cradle

Hi,

I do not accept your statement!

I have tested the charging cable in the speaker and in the cradle and when on 100% the speaker still charges. Please see the screenshot from the app. I have tested the app on Android and ios and it shows this!

FD861E94-A50F-423D-8F82-F0A61F193D0D.jpeg

This is not normal behaviour!

When I remove the charging cable it shows this:

8365E276-69E1-4BA0-8F8A-6191ED344710.jpeg

This is what I except to see when it is connected to the charging cable and it is on 100%.

The speaker is under warranty and I think to return it back to the bose service for troubleshooting and even replacement.

I am excepting your professional opinion.

Regards

Martin

Re: Bose Portable Smart Speaker continuous charging on the cradle

Hey Martin!

The indicator you are referring to is a visual representation that the speaker is connected to power. What you are seeing in the application is expected behavior.

Re: Bose Portable Smart Speaker continuous charging on the cradle

Hi Jessie,

So you are saying that the code behind the app is not written in the way to recognise that the hardware module on the battery is stoping the charging?

If so, how I can see that actually the feature is working as expected and the battery is not overcharging.

Thanks

Martin
