Bose Soundbar 700 HDMI Arc issue

Just bought the system and loved it while it was working

However the HDMI Arc has stopped working

I know the bar is working as I can use it for my 6 preset radio stations

it started yesterday I had to do a full power restart after turning off dvr and tv to re engage the sound bar to get get working

now this morning after an overnight restart no sound

i presume my only option is to go to optical cable

thats not right

with the price I paid for the bar and sound bar I should have this facility

very frustrating

thinking about getting a refund!

plus I have to wait on a firmware for universal remote facility

can we we have an urgent firmware update to fix ARC issues ?

Hi Bose70069

Thanks for joining the Community!  I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing these ARC issues, but I'd be happy to help!

Have you been able to try and re-seat the HDMI cables from both ends?

Would you be able to provide us the make/model of the TV you're connected to?

Let us know so we can further assist!

Re: Bose Soundbar 700 HDMI Arc issue

Hi Tony

I actually rang Bose phone support

after a few checks on on the phone we tried updating the hdmi arc format on my tv for hdmi 4

it has a standard or enhanced output

switching between either one works as it forces the tv to reset itself and restart

i don’t know whether it’s a Bose issue or tv issue

I have asked the Bose guys to see can intergrate a firmware change

so all sorted but not ideal have to explain this fix to everyone in the family

We bought the system on Saturday. It worked for 1 day and since then, no action. No Alexa, no sound, won’t switch on, error on everything. Not good enough

Re: Bose Soundbar 700 HDMI Arc issue

Hi Hels24,

Thank you for posting, I'm sorry to hear this is happening.

Have you tried performing a factory default on the Soundbar 700? Also, what is the make and model of your TV?

Instruction for a factory default can be found HERE.

Let us know if this helps.

Re: Bose Soundbar 700 HDMI Arc issue

Hi there, i have the same issue here. After first two days use, it all works well. However, on the third day problem appear. The HDMI ARC function not working, even reset both TV and Soundbar, even the app. Called to the servie hotline, the operator suggested to use Optical instead to increase the stability and fix the current issue. I do know this could solve this issue, but this is not ideal for such pricing item as a solution. My TV model is Samsung UA48JU7000. Please advise if any firmware could help this problem.

Re: Bose Soundbar 700 HDMI Arc issue

I also have just had my 700 Soundbar stop working. Samsung TV. Was working fine for weeks (after the initial remote disaster) and now will not play my TV. Soundbar works. TV works. It just will not play TV sound. I have done factory reset, cables, everything. This is ridiculous.

Re: Bose Soundbar 700 HDMI Arc issue

Hi Alecia24

Thanks for the update!  Sorry to hear you're experiencing these issues but would be happy to help!

Let's make sure we re-seat the HDMI cable in the ARC port on the TV, and that you can select them as external speakers afterwards  If this doesn't seems to resolve the issue, let's try something else:

  • Make sure the soundbar is running the latest firmware (2.0.10)
  • First disable CEC on the soundbar by turning it off in the Bose Music app
  • Now, power down the TV and soundbar and then disconnect the power cord on both devices
  • Disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV and wait 1 minute
  • After 1 minute, reconnect power to the TV and the soundbar
  • After powering up the devices, re-enable CEC on the soundbar by navigating back to the Bose Music app
  • After turning CEC back on, reconnect the HDMI cable to the TV and select the TV source on the Bose remote
  • At this point you should have audio from the TV.
  • If you're still not receiving any audio to the soundbar, turn off the TV with the TV remote and wait 30 seconds.
  • After 30 seconds, try powering the TV back on with the TV remote.

If this doesn't seem to work, please let us know the make/model of the TV as well

Thank you!
