@afcchris don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you. I have been fuming over this as much as the next guy. I had my soundbar since December 2018 and have been regretting not returning it immediately (I gave Bose the benefit of the doubt which turns out to be a huge mistake). I even have a link of this thread saved on my phone so that I can post it against Bose social network posts/ads to let people know that this product is riddled with unresolved issues.
If Bose issues a recall or a refund, I'll take off work right now and be the first to return my soundbar/bass module/surround speakers. The amount of money I spent would be better put on a Sonos as I have a friend with a whole system set up and he doesn't have these issues and the sound is really good too.
I'm merely stating what I'm doing right now to at least help others with their troubleshooting and ease the pain. We're all in the same boat.

A new firmware update was just announced
And despite waiting for 2 months, it doesn't list HDMI ARC issues are being fixed.
YES, I did post the following on the firmware update thread, but it is probably more warranted here. And at this point, my frustration promotes me to shamelessly re-post it here before moving on from BOSE products.
Following the threads around the CEC/HDMI/ARC issues, I can confidently say the following....
Super disappointing, frustrating and embarrassing. Why embarrassing you ask? Because when we have people over, which we do often, I have to explain the need to unplug my $1600 BOSE Soundbar and Subwoofer to get it to work. Well, that isn't entirely true; I only have to go through that process when I want to use it. Otherwise it looks great sitting there idle.
BOSE, you are an absolute mess. Your community support is awful. You have support specialists reply to CEC/HDMI/ARC threads early on and then vanish as frustration heightens because of the impractical workarounds. Your firmware update prioritization is laughable (thanks for improving Alexa; I have a $1600 Alexa speaker. Now can I please use it with my TV without jumping through hoops?). It has been over a year that MANY folks have been having these CEC/HDMI/ARC issues.
I am absolutely at awe. The company and product support is the definition of abject; it seems hopeless at this point.
I'll do my very best to steer folks away from your products going forward!
Thanks for your time.

ciao donato anche tu hai lo stesso problema mio? io risolvo staccando la spina della tv, non della soundbar, come dici tu forse e alex o spotify che gli crea disturbo... dicono di provare con il cavo ottico e pare che si risolva...
Will all those that are still having CEC/HDMI/ARC issues please contribute to this thread: HDMI ARC Soundbar reports
This thread was started by a Bose Lead Community Manager, Wayne_M:
"We are looking to gather details about anyone who may be experiencing issues with HDMI ARC or CEC on their Bose Soundbar. Issues with HDMI ARC would be if you are experiencing no, partial, or intermittent audio when connected via an HDMI cable. Issues with CEC may affect your ability to control the soundbar via a 3rd party remote or, possibly, control of your source device and TV via the soundbar remote."

I have a Samsung 8 Series TV with the Bose 700 Soundbar. I have had several issues as many others have described with this Soundbar. When I have had recent issues with HDMI ARC issues I have been able to get it working by doing a sound reset on the TV, then disconnecting the HDMI cable and re-installing. I wish Bose would step up and figure out a fix so consumers were not constantly having to search forums to find fixes that may or may not work for some. Truly wish we had More research before this purchase.

What's happening with Samsung tv's is the same that happened with LG Oled tvs. The problem got corrected when both parties got a firmware update correcting the issue. It's not only bose problem, it's more like a compatibility issue that needs correction.

Worst part is I used to work for Bose so I know alot of their tricks. They are by far inferior to Sonos and they're always playing catch up. I'm always steering people away from Bose, sad part I also own a LS650. This issue has been happening for the past 3 years. Started with the 300, they never addressed it and of course I upgraded to the 700 like an idiot and it has the same issue. I'm at peace that there will never be a good solution. All they have is "have you tried using an optical?"
STAY AWAY FROM ALL BOSE PROCUTS, THE SOUND IS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE.

Bose Soundbar 700 HDMI Arc issue
I absolutely found solution for this issue folks.
the solution is use HDMI 2.1 cable.
I was having same arc problem the day after I purchased the bose soundbar 700.
and I have tried out all of suggestions is this thread.
none of them worked but the HDMI 2.1 cable works perfectly.
It has been working finely for 6month now.
Try out the HDMI 2.1 cable !!!!
I personally think a cheap 2.1 cable is better than expensive 2.0 cable.
I use cheap $10 HDMI 2.1cable just works fine.
screw the HDMI CEC hand shake and all that and using 2.1 cable is absolute solution.

@Luna Y be careful with what you are writing here. There are 52 pages of complaints from people who have tried everything. This includes using the correct cables.
Maybe in your particular case that was the issue, but this is not the case for us.
HDMI/Arc was working perfectly fine for me until firmware 4.1.1. It stopped working with firmware 5.0.12, There was no change of firmware in the TV, no change of equipment and no change of cables.
So the only thing responsible for the ARC problem most of us are experiencing is the crappy firmware update Bose is pushing to our soundbars... This without proper testing, or even acknowledging issues... Well actually they have acknowledged the problem but have no clue how to fix it... There is even a dedicated sticky post from Bose who felt it was a good idea to start to hide this thread with 52 pages of complains...
Yet, more people have reported issues, and still silence and no solution from Bose...
