Can't connect Epson EH-TW7000 projector to Bose Soundbar 700 via bluetooth

I put the soundbar into the pairing mode by pressing the "bluetooth" button for 10 seconds (to clear the pairings list). I can see it in the projector's "search bluetooth devices" menu, but when I try to connect, the "connection failed" message is shown after several seconds.

please help

ps: in the projector's troubleshooting guide it's said that the audio device to connect to should support SCMS-T, does Bose soundbar 700 support it?

Hi Tsayper,

Thank you for your post and welcome!

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing connecting to your projector with the Soundbar 700.

To make you aware, we do not recommend connecting in this way as it can cause an audio delay. We would always recommend connecting via HDMI or optical and using Bluetooth to stream music.

Regarding your query about SCMS-T, this is not a profile that the Soundbar 700 supports.

I hope this helps! Let me know if there is anything else we can do for you!

Re: Can't connect Epson EH-TW7000 projector to Bose Soundbar 700 via bluetooth

Is there a chanse that SCMS-T support will be added in the future?

Now I connect my PC to Bose 700 via bluetooth and it works fine, no delays.

Re: Can't connect Epson EH-TW7000 projector to Bose Soundbar 700 via bluetooth

I have the same issue connecting from an Epson 2150 projector to the Portable Smart Speaker for bluetooth audio.

My phone connects to the speaker, so it works. The projector connects to my JBL flip, so it works.

But the projector won't connect to the Bose. I presume it is the SCMS-T compatibility issue with this Bose device as well. I had the same issue with the Sonos Move (which also doesn't support A2DP/SCMS-T).

Disappointing, as after having to return the Sonos Move, I made sure I got feedback from a product specialist at Bose before purchasing the portable smart speaker, and he indicated that the smart speaker would be indeed be compatible.

Hi all,

Thanks for posting and continuing the discussion!

@idk, the Portable Home Speaker does support A2DP, but not SCMS-T, so if your projector requires SCMS-T compatibility this would explain the issue. The Portable Home Speaker works with the A2DP, AVRCP, and BLE Bluetooth profiles.

If you did want to have wireless audio from your projector, it could be worth looking at a Bluetooth transmitter that you could plug into the projector and connect that to the speaker. That way you can still stream any audio wirelessly and potentially bypass the SCMS-T requirement. I wouldn't be able to say for certain how well this would work though as introducing another element into the Bluetooth signal chain could add some latency between the video and audio.

I hope this helps!

Re: Can't connect Epson EH-TW7000 projector to Bose Soundbar 700 via bluetooth

Thanks Keith. That explains it.

Third speaker was the trick. I just got a JBL xtreme 2 that works. I had an old, smaller flip that did support SCMS-T, and so did the new, bigger one. Both the move and the smart speaker sound was a little more crisp, but this was a decent alternative (and more importantly, it works!)

Thanks again!

Re: Can't connect Epson EH-TW7000 projector to Bose Soundbar 700 via bluetooth

Dear Bose guys, I have the same issue as the original poster. I am deeply disappointed that your product that costs more than 700 Euro is unable to connect via bluetooth with the Epson beamer. Frankly, my old 150 Euro soundbar was able to do this. After buying a premium product and getting this kind of answer I feel more than let down. Honestly, upgrade the firmware. This is an embarrassing issue. Connecting via cable makes absolutely no sense in a beamer setup... you'd have to drag a cable across the room! That is exactly NOT what I want to do. Declaring this issue as "solved" just adds to the insult. Really - once again I feel betrayed. I had asked the salesperson if this was possible and he said "yes". This really is ridiculous.

Re: Can't connect Epson EH-TW7000 projector to Bose Soundbar 700 via bluetooth

I have been having exactly the same issue. Very disappointing for a product that cost £800, particularly as my speakers costing a fraction of the cost can connect to the projector easily. Please upgrade your product or provide a wireless workaround (it’s not always possible or desirable to have a wired system and your marketing material gives the impression it could be used wirelessly).
