I leave my portable home speaker sitting on the charging cradle to use in its main position and only take it off when moving about the home.
will leaving it mostly on the charging cradle affect the battery? Or does it stop charging when full and just use mains power if you leave it on the charger?
thanks
Troy.
Anyone?
Hello Troykm,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the Bose Community.
Leaving the speaker on the charging cradle won't affect the battery as the speaker will stop accepting charge once it is fully charged.

Thank you for the reply 👍🏻
Just to clarify, I’m talking about leaving it switched on 24 hours a day seven days a week as it always on Alexa speaker. In this instance is the battery still not affected?
Hey Troykm,
One full charge of the Portable Home Speaker will provide up to 12 hours of use and 24 hours in standby mode. Your speaker will only charge on the cradle if needed, and this particular speaker doesn't force you to stay in one place so be sure to move the system around your home to make full use of its capabilities.
Unless you're planning to play music 24 hours a day, it doesn't need to stay on the cradle. However, if you do wish to keep it in one place, the cradle will only charge the speaker when battery charging is required so keeping it permanently connected will ensure it always has battery life.
After about 500 charge cycles you may notice a minimal difference in battery life, so that's why we recommend for this particular system only charging when required. There are other brilliant smart home systems such as the Home Speaker which connect directly to power at all times, which may be more intended for your use if you wish to keep it plugged in all day.
Let me know if you have any other queries!
That’s what I thought. However, why then does the manual say it can be used as an always on Alexa speaker?
Hi,
What's the best way to optimize battery life on the Bose Portable Smart speaker. Since it has Alexa, I would like the speaker to be on at all times (and hence plugged in all the time). Would this ruin the battery and battery life? Will a charging cradle be a better option? Can I keep it plugged in to the cradle at all times?

What devices were you using that were affected and what version are they on (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S9 on Android 11, iPhone X on iOS14, etc.)

What environment do you experience the issue in? (e.g. noisy office, quiet kitchen, etc.)
When did you start to experience the issue? Did it work correctly previously?
Any troubleshooting steps you took
Hi Hector, thanks for answering this. I was curious about keeping my Home Speaker on the cradle when I don’t need to move it and preserve the battery charge. I also have a Bose Soundlink Revolve Plus speaker with The charging cradle for that one as well. I would assume that one can stay plugged in as the home speaker can?
Hey Edman123,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the Community!
Yes, this is correct. Both speakers are okay to be left on the charging cradle.
