Google assistant in non-supported country

Are you able to advise how the 'country' is determined? Is it based on ip address, or can it be configured by the user through their bose music account?

For example, there is no official Google assistant support in New Zealand but the Australian version works perfectly fine. Can I just choose some other country so I can use Google assistant?

What do you mean tbeAustralian version of Google assistant for Bose. I don’t believe the update has been released in Australia yet.

Theres no support for google assistance in Australia as yet.

the only way you can test it , is use a VPN

Re: Google assistant in non-supported country

Ideally Bose could just release the update for Australia and make good on their promise. If Bose is having problems with the Australian version why not at least give us the USA version.

Re: Google assistant in non-supported country

Thanks for the replies. Totally accept the Australian version isn't available yet, that was just an example.

The question remains though, can I change my "country" manually so I can use (for example) the UK version of the assistant? People are suggesting VPNs which says to me that the country is determined by ip ip address. That really sucks cause it means I'm beholden on Google actually releasing a NZ version of the assistant and AFAIK Google doesn't even know NZ exists!

Re: Google assistant in non-supported country

They release google features for UK, FR,DE and NL just over 3 weeks ago

so we including me need to be patient until they get all the licence agreement

and other reason to get it Available for Australia,NZ and other countries.

myself I do have google home as well and it be good for Bose products to work with

google assistance as well as google music here in Australia

Re: Google assistant in non-supported country

I hope Bose would accelerate enabling Google Assistant in many countries as possible. The voice assistant has been a great feature that customers are looking for. But it is so sad having that feature still unusable in many countries.

You may want to note that Google Assistant in JBL speakers (mine is JBL Link View) is functioning already here in the Philippines.

Re: Google assistant in non-supported country

I second the motion! my question is, why does GOOGLE ASSISTANT works in a CHEAP small, yet simple google home mini, a google hub and a JBL soundlink 20, (all work here in the Philippines), while a VERY EXPENSIVE Bose Portable Speaker does not? why can they do it? it's not  matter of geolocation because other smart speakers work. Why do you restrict your customers, when the speaker advertised google assistant as one of its feature, and the one of the reason why most of us bought it. I cannot understand why?

by the way, I tried Using VPN and set it to USA and the google assistant works (but I don't want to keep on using a VPN just to make it work),  but when I ask google to play a music, it says " sorry, I cannot play it here, but you can ask me to play it somewhere else" What's wrong?! its so frustrating!
