Re: Home Speaker 500 Clock displaying incorrectly

The app version on the Apple app store is 1.2.2. Opening the app from there doesn't seem to provide an option for users to update the Home Speaker 500. Clock here in Singapore is 4 hours ahead.

Re: Home Speaker 500 Clock displaying incorrectly

Hello everyone!

Thanks for providing this feedback while we look into this information.  Our development team is requesting the make/models of the mobile devices that were used to setup the system as well as what OS version you have on it as well.  Ex.  iPhone X iOS 12.1 etc.

Also, in the settings of your mobile device, can we see if the time settings are set to automatic?  If it is, can we try and set the location manually?

Thank you for your patience!

Re: Home Speaker 500 Clock displaying incorrectly

iPad and iPhone are both iOS 12.1!
Manually select the location of time setting doesn’t change anything.

Re: Home Speaker 500 Clock displaying incorrectly

Using iPhone 7 running iOS 12.1.

Since this is happening all around the world, I don't believe it has anything to do with how time is set - be it automatically or manually. Besides, it worked well for all of us prior to the update on 14 November 2018.

Re: Home Speaker 500 Clock displaying incorrectly

iPhone X, iOS 12.1. I have tried Auto and Manual TZ in iOS.

Bose Firmware 7f715/.  Is it worth mentioning again that the time _is_ displayed correctly, for a few seconds anyway when the 500 powers on before it reverts to showing GMT/UTC time.

I believe the issue. Is firmware related, not app related.  Somewhere on the 500 it has the correct time and TZ as we see during startup but. It Is being incorrectly presented - or has missing TZ information - during the final decision to present  the time.  Gosh..

Re: Home Speaker 500 Clock displaying incorrectly

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the updates!  Since this issue started after the firmware update was pushed to the speakers, I'd like to see if manually re-flashing the software on the system may bring this back to the correct time.  The steps to follow are:

  • Use the following link to download the update file for your product: worldwide.bose.com/support/HSFW
    • When prompted, click Save and save the update file to your computer's desktop
      • If the prompt does not appear, the file may have downloaded automatically. Check the header or footer in the browser window, or check your Downloads folder
      • Do not rename the file
  • Connect a USB A-to-Micro USB cable from a computer to the "SERVICE" jack on the back bottom of the product (next to the power cord)
  • Reboot the product by disconnecting its power cord for 30 seconds
  • Wait for the product to reboot: While rebooting, the light bar pulses white; when rebooted, the light bar turns off
  • Simultaneously touch and hold the Volume - and Volume + buttons on the top of the system for 5 seconds to enter service mode. A 5 second countdown appears on the display to confirm
  • Open a web browser and go to http://203.0.113.1:17008/update.html
  • At the file update screen, click CHOOSE FILE
  • In the file selection window, find and select the "product_update.zip" file you downloaded in Step 1
  • Click UPLOAD and wait while the update is installed.

Please let us know if this update resolves the issue!

Warm Regards,

Tony A
