New Smart Soundbar 300 - Analogue to digital conversion

Before creating a new topic, please search the Community to avoid creating duplicate threads. If you are posting about a problem, the more of the below details you can include (if applicable) the easier it will be for others to try and help. Go to https://bose.life/2K1GbJl for a helpful post on how to find relevant information, including your firmware and app version information!

Bose product name

Smart Bose 300

Country

UK

What devices were you using that were affected and what version are they on

Apple 8 and Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD70

Detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce

The TV does not support HDMI arc or optical - how can I connect the speaker to the TV so I can pick up audio through the soundbar

What environment do you experience the issue in? (e.g. noisy office, quiet kitchen, etc.)

N/A

When did you start to experience the issue? Did it work correctly previously?

From set up

Any troubleshooting steps you took

Tried to fling from Chrome cast - unable to pick up video from TV only from Apple phone.

Tried to Cast from Firestick unable to connect (have latest Firestick and firmware installed on Firestick)

As the TV is quite old - rather than having to go out and purchase a new TV (nothing wrong with the TV - just does not have the latest connections) - is there away to convert analogue to digital so the soundbar can be connected to the TV?

Connections in the back of the TV, are HDMI x 2, Audio in and out and good old scart sockets

Hello!

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Community!

To be able to use a Smart Soundbar 300 with your TV, you would need to be able to send audio to it using an optical or HDMI-ARC connection, if your TV doesn't support either of these, you may be able to use a converter for the analog signal your TV can output, but I would not be able to say how well that would work.

You wouldn't be able to cast to the soundbar using Chromecast or a FireTV as the soundbar does not support this for audio, but as you mentioned having an Apple TV, you may be able to use Airplay to stream the audio from the Apple TV to the soundbar. You can find a guide on how to use Airplay with your soundbar HERE. This would only work for apps and videos watched on the Apple TV, however, you wouldn't be able to send audio from other sources this way.

If any of the Community have suggestions of analog to digital converters that may work with an older TV, it would be great to hear your suggestions!
