Indeed. The Soundbar will perform adequately without the bass module. As fun funds become available a 700 bass module will work nicely. Alternatively two 500 bass modules will give you broad deep notes. All of which will be well suited for your large tv.
Be sure to use ARC connections. Better sound than optical.
Can someone share some light on how the size of TV should influence the type of Soundbar? For example, how useful would a Bose Smart 300 do with a 65 inch TV. How will the quality be impacted?
The TV screen can act as a passive radiator. However I think other room dynamics can affect speaker performance even more. The 300, 500 and 700 differ most by drivers. The 700 also uses phase guides as part of its sound stage.
Another factor is the acoustimass.
There is a difference in performance.
The 700 is more bassy.
