Thank you very much for the workaround @LuisB . I have the exact same problem with my brand new Bose Portable Speaker and pressing the play/pause button for about 10s also somehow bring back Alexa for me.
I sent you the details you ask for but no response from you (r) technical team: can you update us the status?
I did try by pressing pause/play button for few seconds as mentioned by community members and list the findings below :
By long pressing play/pause button , we can connect alexa
a. voice control applicable only one time, when you voice over second it time it will listen but no response or action.
b. you cant control volume, skip, next track etc etc
c. most of the alexa features are not working.
Thanks for reaching back out to us via the Community! We don't currently have any further updates to share at this moment in time but will update this thread as soon as we do.
We appreciate your patience with this.

I have the same issue. Soft reset works for that use but as soon as I turn off and back on, Alexa stops working again. It’s worked fine for a year and just stopped working a few weeks ago. It’s gets annoying needing to reset the speaker every time I use it in order to get Alexa to respond. This is one of the reasons we purchased this product because it claims to work with Alexa. Anyways, very frustrating.
Thank you for your messages. We have recently discovered a firmware bug that will make Alexa unresponsive if the Portable Home Speaker reaches a low battery state. This can be corrected by holding the “play/pause” button for 10 seconds, but the issue will return if the low-power state is reached again. If holding the play pause button does not restore Alexa functionality, please reach out to your local Bose support channel.
We are working to prioritize a firmware update to address this issue, and we anticipate a release in early Fall. We will continue to update this community thread as more information is available. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work through this for you. Thank you.
