Right setup and few questions

Hello I have buy a bose soundtouch 300

currently I use the bar over a coax to optical converter 92hz because my tv have online coax spdif and no arc

now my questions , I see that under sound stand :

hdmi-> 16bit  44100 hz is the maximal

sampling rate stand : 32.0khz / 48.0khz / 44.1 kHz

Code Format Dolby digital

maximal Channel 2

why are there maximal 2 Channels and no 5.1 ? Is that because I. Currently not have more then the soundbar ? , I had think the soundbar can play 5.1 ?

or is that behind I’m over a coax to optical converter ?

then I read over a converter with 192hz and 384hz how much I need for the soundbar to have no lost ? Or is this only possible without converter ? And can both arc and optical get the perfect sound or is this because my old sound card ?  Had see this soundcard: creative soundblaster x3 with optical input and 5.1/7.1 support will this work for get good sound over optical?
because my old tv had only coax spdif no arc and the sound modes look to old

they have:

pcm /comprimiert

Stereo / dual-1 / Dual-2

surround sound

dynamic bass

but I miss the wow effect that I have in the bose store

which is the right setup for me ?

what I have to do for the same sound like in the store (exeeded the bass/surround speaker) that I buy in the next 2 months

and then I hear the most of time he play stereo ? And not 5.1 why ?
i installed extra the Dolby drivers for my notebook ?
and had use a movie with ac3

please help

Re: Right setup and few questions

Hi Thedoc,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the community. I would be happy to help you with this.

The SoundTouch 300 is designed to be connected directly to your TV using either HDMI-ARC or optical, it is not designed to work with converters as they can negatively impact the sound quality. I'm glad to hear you have got this working with a converter, but it is not the intended setup and may explain why the sound is not living up to what you heard in-store.

If you are watching TV through an external device, such as a cable box or streaming device, they do sometimes have an optical connection that you could connect your soundbar to directly. That way you can bypass any issues that may be present with the converter or audio formats on the TV itself.

The soundcard you mentioned, the Creative Sound Blaster X3, does seem to have an optical output, so you should be able to use that with your soundbar. Whether this will play the quality of audio you are expecting will largely depend on what the source, on your Mac, is outputting to the soundcard.

It is also always worth running AdaptIQ to calibrate the speaker to your room and get the best sound quality possible in your space. You can find the instructions on this HERE.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind Regards,

Re: Right setup and few questions

Heyy thanks for you’re anwear

Is there any difference in sound Qualität from arc to optical ?
i have a Windows 7 computer

adaptiq is already finished

and what you mean with it depends on the source ?
Mean you the movie source ? If it’s Dolby/5.1  or not ? What must I take attention at the soundcard to get the sound from bose store ?

and when I try to connect my bose soundtouch to my pc via Bluetooth then stand there connected and when I try to open services , there stand can’t connected ? Need I for this a xtra driver ?

Re: Right setup and few questions

The usb soundcard can:

Wiedergabeauflösung (Stereo): PCM 16-bit, 48.0, 96.0, 192.0 kHz

Wiedergabeauflösung (Stereo): PCM 24-bit, 48.0, 96.0, 192.0 kHz

Wiedergabeauflösung (Stereo): PCM 32-bit, 48.0, 96.0, 192.0 kHz

Wiedergabeauflösung (Optischer Ausgang): PCM 16-bit, 48.0, 96.0, 192.0 kHz

Wiedergabeauflösung (Optischer Ausgang): PCM 24-bit, 48.0, 96.0, 192.0 kHz

Surround 7.1: PCM 16-bit, 48.0, 96.0, 192.0 kHz

Surround 7.1: PCM 24-bit, 48.0, 96.0, 192.0 kHz

Surround 7.1: PCM 32-bit, 48.0, 96.0, 192.0 kHz

Dolby Digital Live: 16-bit, 48.0 kHz

is that enough for Dolby surround / dts im 5.1 ? with the soundbar ? And which mode I must choose ?
