SiriusXM Wi-FI Problem on Bose 500 Home Speaker

For about a month now, all my SiriusXM channels keep fading in and out. For the first 6 months that I had the Bose 500 speaker, the stations stayed in perfectly. I'm curious to see if anyone else is experiencing this behavior.

All other Wi-Fi progamming such as Pandora, Tune-in and i-Heart have had no problems whatsover. It seems to be isolated to just SiriusXM and the Bose 500 speaker. I listen to Sirius XM with no problems on my Amazon Alexa Echo and Dot speakers.

Thanks for reading and for any suggestions.

Re: SiriusXM Wi-FI Problem on Bose 500 Home Speaker

Hello Summertom,

Thank you for the information provided.

The next step I would recommend is removing the Sirius XM from the Bose Music account. You can find the instructions by clicking here.

To re-add it again follow these steps:

  •  In the Bose Music app, tap the My Bose icon  in the upper-left.
  • Tap the My Account icon  in the upper-right.
  • Tap Manage Music Services > Add New Service.
  • Select the SiriusXM icon.
  • Follow the app instructions to enter your account username and password, or to create a new account.
  • Tap Done With Services.

Please try this, test and let me know how you get on.

Kindest regards,

Prince O

Hi Summertom,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the community.

Are you getting any kind of errors when experiencing this?

Re: SiriusXM Wi-FI Problem on Bose 500 Home Speaker

No, I'm not getting errors on the screen. I tried all different varieties of stations and the same dropouts repeat themselves.

By the way, I love the unit and have had friends purchase their own after hearing mine.

Thank you for the quick response.

Hi Summertom,

Thanks for posting and updating me on this.

I would recommend performing a factory reset on the product to see if this resolves your issue.

This can be done via:

  • Remove the product from your Bose account.
  • Simultaneously press and hold the Volume - and AUX buttons for 10 seconds. The system will reboot into setup mode.

I'm sorrybut I'm a bit of a novice. What do you mean by removing the product from my Bose account?

Thanks...

Hi Summertom,

This means going into your Bose Music App > Account Settings > Manage Products > Edit and remove the system from the list.

Re: SiriusXM Wi-FI Problem on Bose 500 Home Speaker

Hi Hector…

I followed your instructions and did the full factory reset. The problem still exists and even seems a bit worse. SiriusXM is completely unlistenable on my Bose 500 Home Speaker. I’m hoping it is a software problem that Bose may be able to fix soon. Thank you for your help.

Re: SiriusXM Wi-FI Problem on Bose 500 Home Speaker

Hello Prince...

Thank you for writing. I tried your solution and...it worked!! I am happily overwhelmed.

I will try SiriusXM tomorrow in the morning. That's when the fading in and out was really the worst. But I've had it on for 15 minutes and it is working perfectly.

Once again, thank you.
