The Bose Community Forum was launched at a time when robust online support was not available for Bose customers. Over the past several years we have added new online service channels that provide a more interactive and complete digital experience. Additionally, we have enhanced the My Bose Account capabilities to deliver a more personalized and self-service experience. As a result, Bose has made the decision to close Community Forum for Consumer electronics products on September 30th. The Bose Pro portion of the Community will still operate as usual.

Please visit our support homepage to experience one of our many other digital service channels or simply use your Community log-in credentials to sign in to your My Bose Account to view your orders and view support options.

Thank you to all who have contributed and benefited from interacting in our Community. We look forward to continuing to serve you online.

Smart Home Link Adapter / Amp (and Music Library)?

Hello Bose admins,

I know we are getting close-ish to a publicly-available "Smart Home API" (or whatever it ends up being called). That means we will finally be able to integrate with third parties, i.e. Home Assistant.

With the recent speaker groups capability, and news of the near-future, I have chosen to invest fully in "Smart Home".

I have all of the following:

- Soundbar 700 w/ rear & bass module

- Home Speaker 500

- Home Speaker 300

- Portable Home Speaker

- Portable Home Speaker charging cradle

- UFS 20-II stands

In other words, I have purchased the entire product line.

A few pieces of the puzzle missing here that existed in the previous SoundTouch generation:

- Link Adapter

- Amp

- Music Library Service (via Bose Music App)

-----------------------------------------------------

I want to make my dumb speakers smart. I want to group these speakers together with my other "Smart Home" products. I want to be able to control these speakers and speaker groups via an API, so I can do cool things (i.e. Home Assistant).

I also want to be able to access my locally-stored media and play it on my speaker groups. It's a huge bummer that I have all these great songs that I can't listen to because the current generation doesn't support it (although previous generations do).

Are there plans to release a Link Adapter and/or Amp that is compatible with the new software line? How about Music Library (i.e. NAS/DLNA capability). If so, can you give any insight as to when we should be expecting these features?

Until then, I will not feel that my smart home audio setup is complete.

Thanks for the info, and continually making your products better.

Hey jhelmer25,

Thanks for reaching out today!

This does seem like a great idea. We are unaware of any plans to release something like this, but certainly appreciate your feedback and the added benefits this would add.

Re: Smart Home Link Adapter / Amp?

Adding to the list of missing features is the "Music library" feature that worked with the previous generation SoundTouch system. This allows streaming of locally-hosted music (e.g. NAS) to connected speakers (i.e. via DLNA).

I have updated the original post to reflect this request.

I understand the advancements being made in the current generation of tech, but without these major features (i.e. way to make dumb speakers smart, and way to listen to my downloaded music), I fear the product line is incomplete.

Re: Smart Home Link Adapter / Amp?

I have Six Smart Home Speakers (4 300s and 2 450s) throughout my home and would like to add my older Sony receiver with its wired Bose Acoustimass 5 and Bose outdoor speakers to connect with the Bose music app. You have such a WiFi adapter for the SoundTouch system. When can we expect the same for the newer Smart Home speaker family?

Re: Smart Home Link Adapter / Amp?

The "Music library" is really a big missing point. when I researched what sound system to buy I saw a lot of articles how the library function seems to be very good on the old devices... and now that I have a Soundbar 700 a Speaker 300 and 500 I find out I can’t play my own music on them.

Also I seem to be unable to “permagroup” my speakers. Every time I have to start the music on one and then add all the others. Why can’t I just create a permanent group of my 3 speakers?

A real bummer.
