Soundbar 700 - No sound from TV - Soundbar reboot required

Tonight we have experienced a brand new issue where the soundbar would not play any sound from the TV.   I could switch to the music input source and it would play a song fine, but switching to the TV input and there was nothing.   Before restarting the soundbar, I tested mutiple inputs from the TV, switching HDMI sources and also using the TVs built in tuner.   No sound on anything.   Then turning the TV off and on, still no sound.  Turning the soundbar off using the remote made no difference.   Disconnecting the power from the TV would not bring the sound back either.

 

The sound only came back after powering off the soundbar at the mains.

In my case it worked only when I unplugged the TV power too.

When the issue was occurring, did you happen to notice if the ARC connection was being detected in the TV at all?  This would let us know where to start looking for root cause.

I don't know how to tell if the TV has an Arc connection detected. I've been through all the options. There is not much information available.

Just wanted clarification if the TV was detecting the soundbar through the audio output menu.  Some TVs will only display active outputs.

Hi @Tony_A From memory, I think it did show "HDMI 2" in the list of connections and when switching to this input it showed the Bose logo.

My TV is a Samsung UE46D7000 with firmware T-GAPDEUC-1033.2

 

HDMI 1 is a Humax FreeSAT box model HDR-1100S with firmware UKSFAA 3.00.94

HDMI 2 (ARC) is the Bose Soundbar 700 with firmware 2.1.10 (Dec 12)

HDMI 3 is FireTV box (Gen2) running Fire OS 5.2.6.7 (623530020) and FireTV home version 6.1.2.1-005

HDMI 4 is Sony PS4 Slim running System Software 6.20
