Soundbar 700 update goes for hours

Hi

I bought a Soundbar 700 today. I plugged it into power, ethernet and HDMI Arc on TV - Tv shows download Bose App.  I downloaded the app and added the soundbar and then it immediately wanted to do an update. I didn't have a choice to do anything else so I kicked it off.

Anyway its been updating now for 6+ hours and still not done. It seems to have downloaded the update file ok but now just stuck at "Updating". No lights on the soundbar so I don't know what its doing.  There is no TV sound coming through the soundbar, but I can connect my phone via Bluetooth to it and play music.

Can anyone give me an estimate on how long this initial update is supposed to take? Seems broken to me but I'm reluctant to power cycle the soundbar because I don't want to brick the bloody thing.

Hey Steve09349,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Community! Congratulations on your purchase.

Sorry to read that you are having some issues updating the system, the update length would depend on your internet speed however this shouldn't be taking 6 hours. I'd recommend performing a reset on the system by following these steps below:

  • Power off your system
  • Disconnect the power cord from the soundbar
  • If the accessory bass module or surround speakers are connected, disconnect the power cords from those also
  • When power is reconnected, wait 30 seconds for the system to reboot.

Once you have performed these steps, please attempt to update the speaker via this manual update method here.

We look forward to hearing back from you with the result of these steps.
