BOSE SoundTouch 30 III connected to wrong voltage and made a loud sparking sound

Hi,

I bought a Soundtouch series III system from the US recently and stupidly connected it in Nigeria directly to a power source. As soon as i powered it on it made a loud sound  am wondering does this mean the system is damaged? or would it work if i get a tstep down transformer. Whats the way out please.

Please help. Thanks in advance for any advice / sugggestions!

Re: BOSE SoundTouch 30 III connected to wrong voltage and made a loud sparking sound

Hi there bodeadeniyi,

Thanks for the post, and welcome to the community!

More than likely the power supply in the system has failed since it was plugged into a much higher voltage.  There's a chance that it might still work if you connect a step-down transformer, but the best (and safest) option would be to set up a repair for the system.

If you have any questions please let us know.
