This would actually be a nice feature, and it should totally be possible given the hardware and operating system the speakers run.

Hopefully the mods can pass this on to the development team as a suggestion.

Re: How do I get a USB thumb drive to play on my SoundTouch?

Maybe they could open up the NAS definitions? I have a Netgear 6220 router with a USB port. I have a USB with music on it. Using the built in ReadyShare, all my other devices can see and play the music. The sound touch does not see this as NAS. Pity as I use this for large file transfers between devices (like large picture files from my iphone 7  to my Windows 10 system) and my music library from my Windows system to my iphone as for some (legal) reason music is no longer transferable.

Seems like it should work, but Mongo knows not of these things.

I just realized I have a ton of music files on the USB drive, but not a music library. May have to try again.

After playing with router settings , it now works with ReadyShare! I had neglected to disable password requirement so Bose could not log in.
