Thank you for your inquiry. In order to receive audio from your TV, via an HDMI cable; your TV has to support CEC/ARC (Audio Return Channel). If the TV doesn’t have an HDMI port labelled “ARC”, then I would recommend looking through your TV’s settings menu. Look for CEC settings (Commonly, with Sony TVs, this may show as “Bravia Sync”). If you find any Audio-Out settings for ARC, make sure this is turned on. If you can’t find anything like this, it is possible that your TV does not support ARC.
If your TV does not support ARC, then you would need to make a separate audio connection, outside of using HDMI. You mentioned the TV doesn’t have digital optical, or digital coaxial ports. Does it have an analog RCA output? This may be the only other option to connect audio directly from the TV as a source.
