Panasonic TV audio to SoundBar 300 wont work

Hello I have a 2008 Panasonic Viera TV as described here: http://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/TH-46PZ85U.html
I bought the SoundTouch sound bar 300 today. I cant seem to get the audio to play out of my TV though. I could not confirm with Panasonic support whether I have HDMI arc or not. I turned the Speakers to "Off" so the TV is in home theater mode, but no audio comes out with the soundbar on. I plugged the HDMI cable from the "HDMI to TV" on the Bose into the HDMI 2 port on my TV. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Please help! Is my TV just too old to hook up to the Bose?
Photos included of my inputs on my TV.
Thanks!

Re: Panasonic TV audio to SoundBar 300 wont work

THat TV does not have HDMI ARC.  The technology only became a standard around 4-6years ago, so a TV purchased in 2008 would not have it.  It would also be clearly labeled as HDMI1 (ARC).  Your solution would be to use an Optical cable out from the TV (digital audio out) to the bar.
