SmartThings: SoundTouch Speakers Can Now Play Audio Notifications From SmartThings
In 2015, SoundTouch products were added to the “Works with SmartThings” device list. At that time, the SmartThings app provided basic control of the speakers, similar to the IR remotes supplied with some of the SoundTouch speakers.
Recently SmartThings, in partnership with Bose, added the ability to trigger audio notifications from a SmartThings hub to SoundTouch speakers. This added feature provides a few new and exciting ways to use SoundTouch in a user’s smart home.
Now, a user can trigger a SoundTouch preset to play when a door is opened, program an alarm to sound if a water sensor senses moisture in their basement or even schedule a weather report to play at a certain time every day.
Below you’ll find further details regarding what options are available and supported across the SoundTouch speaker lineup.
Triggered SoundTouch music playback (Control – play/stop/pause/skip):
- Users who might want to trigger a SoundTouch preset to start, stop, pause, skip forward or back can do so on any SoundTouch speaker from the SmartThings app.
Triggered pre-recorded audio notifications (Play a notification):
- Users who might want to trigger a SoundTouch speaker to play an alarm, phone ringing, dog barking, or even a text message as a voice message (and many more) can do so on SoundTouch 10, 20 III, and 30 III systems.
Triggered weather reports (Play a weather report):
- Users who might want to trigger a SoundTouch speaker to play a SmartThings weather report for current conditions, today’s forecast, tonight’s forecast, or tomorrow’s forecast can do so on SoundTouch 10, 20 III, and 30 III systems.
In addition, supported features and information about connecting, configuring and removing SoundTouch speakers to your SmartThings ecosystem can be found on the SmartThings support page.
