SoundTouch 300 Volume Increasing on its own

Hi -

Started having this problem a few days ago - my SoundTouch 300 has started to increase the volume of my speakers on its own. Has happened now at least 4 times. Not using the app - just watching TV (AppleTV). SoundTouch lights look like someone is pressing the volume button on the remote but the buttons aren't being pressed and no lights are flashing on the remote as if it were trying to send a signal to the SoundTouch. Only way to stop it is to shut the bar off and turn it on again.

Anyone else experience this issue? Help!

Thanks,
Ed

Re: SoundTouch 300 Volume Increasing on its own

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the post, and I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your SoundTouch system.

After you turn the system off and back on, how long will it last before the volume begins to increase?

Does this happen any other time, like when listening to Bluetooth or SoundTouch sources like Spotify?

Let us know so we can get this resolved for you.

Haven’t timed it but last time it happened it was doing it again within 20 minutes. Haven’t seen it happen using Bluetooth or Bose sources. Just while using AppleTV.

Re: SoundTouch 300 Volume Increasing on its own

Hi Ed,

Thank you for the reply.

Is the apple TV currently connected to the SoundTouch 300 or to the TV directly? If it is connected to the SoundTouch 300 directly, try to connect it to the TV instead. Also, can you adjust the CEC settings on the SoundTouch 300 from "On" to "Alternate"? This can sometimes help fix some inconsistencies between devices.

To adjust CEC settings on the SoundTouch 300:

  • In the SoundTouch app, select Menu > Settings > Speaker Settings > [select the system] > Advanced Setup > HDMI-CEC.
  • To change the current setting, select the empty circle next to the preferred option
    • Default On Enables CEC
    • Alternate On: Prevents unintended source switching and may fix CEC inconsistencies
    • Off: Disables CEC
  • Press the X in the upper right to close the window

Let us know the results.

Warm Regards,

Joel
