SoundTouch App & Error 1601
It sounds like I've a common complaint. I've read plenty of stuff in forums, but it seems that having bought a few SoundTouch Links and NAS to bring my existing Bose speakers into the present century, the SoundTouch system fails due to its software.
I did my reasearch, bought a WD Mycloud NAS drive (supported apparently!), hooked everything up, worked out how to configure it all from a few disparate online resources (c'mon Bose, instructions on how to get a typical simple installation like mine going should be provided as a matter of course!), spent 8 hours moving music onto the drive and twiddling settings with the DNLA service, and I have a system that plays music. Great. Ish.
If I can play music, why can't the ST app find the library when using ANY of the search functions? This is bizarre, and is the main question in my post.
The decision to adopt PLEX was obviously the right decision given its ubiquity. By why not integrate with it fully? The fact that SONOS comes up as a fully integrated option when setting up the WD MyCloud is a big poke in the eye. You see SONOS, get excited, and keep scrolling to find Bose, but then feel disappointed when its not there. The PLEX website is even somewhat mocking with the vacant space that could be occupied by Bose...
And, the ST app?! It gives the impression that it was programmed by software engineers who ignored all developments in user interfaces, and have created something that's essentially a minimalist, text based list of options. Where's the album art when browsing? Human factors and ergonomics have been completely missed.
Great hardware; rubbish software. Could do a lot better Bose.
Anyway, error 1601. Solutions please...
