Soundtouch 300 no sound when connected to TV

Hi there,

I have just purchased a Soundtouch 300 soundbar and connected it to my LG 65UK6700 PVD smart TV through the HDMI ARC option, as well as the optical cable. 

On my android soundtouch app, HDMI-CEC is set to default on.

 

I haven't been able to hear any sound from the TV so far through my soundbar.

I have verified that CEC is enabled on my TV, I think it's called SIMPLINK.

 

Can you please advise me what may be the issue here?

Glad to hear that it's working!

 

Optical is going to provide the same exact audio as HDMI ARC, so you'll get the same great quality audio you would otherwise.

Thanks for posting in the community!

 

Have you gone through the sound settings of the TV and assigned the audio output yet?

 

I believe on this model TV the setting is called "Sound Out."  You can set this to either Optical or ARC which should help the issue.

Thank you for replying so promptly!

 

Yes the sound out is set to 'HDMI ARC'. It hasn't solved the problem, neither has switching it to 'Optical'.

 

After unplugging the soundbar and powering it back on, I can see a small icon come up on the TV screen saying 'sub' with some pink dots on top of it. However, turning the volume up on the soundbar remote doesn't have any effect.

Thanks for getting back to us!

 

Can we try and power cycle the soundbar and television?  Also re-seating the HDMI cables at the TV and soundbar should help with some of these issues.  Have you also connected the system to the network at home and updated the system through the SoundTouch app yet?

Hi Tony,

Apologies for delay in replying, for some unknown reason gmail shoves all the emails from Bose community straight to the spam folder!

 

I finally had success with the optical cable, as it turned out to be a faulty/ loose connection at the back of my TV!

 

So I can hear the TV now through the soundbar, thanks a lot though for all your tips!

 

I just wonder if the optical cable offers quite the same sound quality as the HDMI!
