Using a HDMI multi-switch with the ST300

Helping my son-in-law set up his new ST300. I know the recommended connection method is through the TV's ARC yet theorically when using a Harmony Remote it seems it would be much simpler to run all components through a HDMI switch.  Comments please.

I use a Harmony 880 remote.  My Bose 300 Soundtouch is connected via HDMI ARC to my LG TV HDMI ARC.  My U-Verse box and 4K Oppo DVD are both plugged directly into the LG TV HDMI in's.  It all works great.

If your TV has ARC, i would still use this. The Sound passes through the TV, so if you need to use a splitter to display on the TV, the ARC will still work as it shows anything displaying on the TV through the HDMI to the soundbar.
