Will the airplay 2 update roll out to my SoundTouch Lifestyle 135 system in the near future?
Hi, Andy_B
If the latencies is the really problem cause Wireless Link Adapter can not support Airplay 2, Please release the firmware and let customer to decide USE airplay OR NOT.
I applied the update, which was waiting for me this afternoon, to all my speakers. The app update installed very quickly, the hardware portion took a few minutes to complete. I was able to confirm installation of the update looking in the “about” section of the utility menu of the SoundTouch app.
Sadly my two SoundTouch 30 III’s don't show in the Airplay menu, despite applying the troubleshooting steps outlined in the 2/20 update message from @Wayne_M. I suspect these two speakers need the Airplay chip update. I will have to confirm with Bose tech support tomorrow.
The SoundTouch wifi adaptor on my Cinemate 130 is also an Airplay no show, which wasn’t too surprising at this point.
The good news, I was able to connect my ST10(mono), AppleTV Series 4 (connected to a Bose Solo), Bose Smart Speaker 300 and Samsung Smart TV and Cinemate 130, using Airplay. All devices played with no synchronization problems. Volume settings was direct on the ST10 and SH300 speakers. The Apple TV, Airport Express adaptors and TV/Cinemate setup are volume dependent on the app, while the corresponding SoundTouch, Solo and Cinemate speakers had separate volume control...no surprise there. Another characteristic of using adaptors v built in Airplay.
Sound quality is very good all around.
I second what @TD_Tony says!
Please enable AirPlay2 on the Wireless Link Adapter and let us customers decide if latency is an issue.
The Apple Airport Express and the Sonos Port which are equivalent to the Wireless Link Adapter also support AirPlay2 and don’t face latency issues.
Maybe the latency is not a problem with the Wireless Link Adapter and all devices simply lack the Apple Authentication Chip.
I would like to hear that statement from Bose. They explicitly mentioned latency as the issue - if it was the lack of the chip they could have also said that.
So far no update for me is there a delay ???? On Appstore it's still the old version......
This morning I turned on my favourite radiostation and played it on my two ST 20 III ( kitchengroup ), I noticed that Spotify sees this group of speakers as possible device to playback but my I Mac does not see both the speakers when they ar joined in a group.
When I disconnect one of the two speakers in the group my I Mac does see both the speakers in it's speakerlist and I can connect with my I Mac via Airplay 2.
Anyone have any ideas on why Airplay 2 is available on only two of my three SoundTouch 10 speakers?
Tried all the suggestions on the help page, updated firmware through app (manually as well), still no dice. Any suggestions?
It‘s not an app update, but a firmware update. Open the Soundtouch app on one of your devices and you should be prompted to update your speakers.
