Companion 2 Series lll need to constantly be unplugged and replugged

Using Bose Companion 2 Series lll speakers plugged into an HP Envy all-in-one 27b2xx PC on Windows 10 Pro Version 1909. I constantly lose sound and have to unplug and replug them throughout the day in order to get them to work. I even replaced the cable. This can happen 20-30 times a day. I've tried everything I know with troubleshooters, searching online, etc. Can't find an answer. Thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

I can understand this must be frustrating, this is not something I have come across happening before. Can I please confirm the following: 

 

  • Is this the way you are connecting the speakers to your computer?
  • Did you use these steps to set up the speakers?
  • Have you selected the audio output device on the computer?
  • Do you have anything else connected to your computer at all?
